Throughout my life, being active has been very important to me and has become something I care a lot about. From a very young age, our family-time consisted of going on walks, hikes, and skiing. In no time, the walks turned into weekend family runs, and my goal was always to keep up with my older sister who was on the middle school and then high school cross country and track teams. This sisterly driven determination has carried over to my overall determination in the sport. In 6th grade, I finally was able to join the cross country and track team and since then have been competing and training, and with that my love for the sport has grown. While in high school, I have been a member of the varsity team and have been named cross country All-Divison and All-Class for my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. This past year, as a junior, at the start of our summer practices this year, my coaches named me as a captain, and with this role, I have been able to pass my passion for the sport along to the underclassman and lead with a communal approach of positivity. During this junior outdoor track season, I was a part of the 4x800 and we ended up receiving All-State at the state meet.
Looking to the future I will bring this positivity with me to collegiate cross country. I would say I have big, but realistic goals for not only myself, but my future team. I would work hard every single day with determination to become faster with the goal of continually striving for a new PR, which I hope in turn contribute positively to my future team. Always striving to better myself not only applies to my athletics but also in the classroom I am equally as driven to perform at a high level. I have enjoyed school since a young age and find learning and grasping new material exhilarating. I would love to be on a team where I am pushed every day to be my best self both academically, athletically, and as an overall person. I strongly feel that if there is a positive attitude, there will be more athletic accomplishments, and thus atmosphere and attitude towards the sport is very important to me.
