Competing is what I love!!!! I compete on the soccer field, in the classroom and beach volleyball court. In every area of my life you will note that I not only compete, but desire to compete with the best in order to become my best! My father, uncle, cousins, and grandfather are all coaches. Coaches kids, I believe have an appreciation of an entire team perspective, we understand that a loss is never just a loss, and a win creates a new platform for those involved. My grandfather not only played for the Chicago Bears, but is also in the Texas Tech University Hall of Fame. I embrace the hours of preparation and dedication required to bring my best EVERY game night.
While I have qualified and attended the US Junior Olympics for Sand Volleyball, my first love is soccer. I desire to play Division 1 Soccer. My soccer assets that set me apart from others my age include my height, physicality, mental toughness and ability to see the field to create extraordinary passing opportunities for my team. I am known for utilizing my body to separate myself from my competition. At 5'11, I appreciate Sand Volleyball training for it's continued ability to increase my agility and vertical, so I can win balls in the air for my team, and continue to increase foot speed. In addition, one of my greatest assets is my ability to always FINISH. I am a FINISHER.
Beyond college, I aspire to be a leader in the FBI. My bar for excellence transcends into everything I do. My academic excellence is a result of hours of commitment to showing my best work, while still performing as a leader on my high school's volleyball and Varsity Soccer teams. In addition, I love competing on my club soccer team in the National League at one of the highest levels of competition in the country for my age. I don't just desire to keep the bar high for me, but I pour relentless energy into bringing my entire team to their best level of excellence.
I also take my spiritual and personal standards very seriously. I always recognize that people are watching when you put yourself in a position of leadership, and I do not take that responsibility lightly. I want to be just as proud of my decision making when there are no eyes present. The college God leads me to will be proud to have me on their team, and I will serve Him and them well in the opportunity I am afforded.
I am Rylee Rives, #57.
