My college years will add exciting chapters in my life’s novel. I feel blessed to be walking and have my sight. At birth, I was born with deformed ankles and feet. At nine, a dog viciously attacked me, mauling my face. Through these challenges, I have set a goal to work with children in an athletic environment to help them with nutrition, injury prevention and how to maintain a healthy life style. This desire has led me to seek a career as a sports medicine pediatrician.
I understand that coaches can choose from hundreds upon thousands of student-athletes. I am a realist. I know there are others that will be stronger, faster, and can handle the ball better. I offer a self-motivated, tenacious, and coachable athlete that understands that my work ethic on the field and in the classroom is vital towards reaching my goals. Additionally, I believe there is always room for improvement. When you don’t win the game, or you don’t get the desired grade on a project, I believe a person has the greatest opportunity to make changes. I live by the Nelson Mandela quote, “I never lose. I either win or learn.”
