Sophia Merjil '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sophia Merjil and currently play for the West Texas Rush Club as a center-back defender. I love playing this position because I'm able to communicate with and help organize my team.  I have also played on select teams in Italy, Arizona, and Florida which have allowed me the opportunity to be coached by different coaches, some international, as well as play with different players and in different climates.  I have been a top student in my class since elementary school, participated in many clubs and organizations including National Honor Society, President and VP of Student Council, Medical club, Athletic Association club, Art Honor Society, French Honor Society, and captain of my soccer team for my Sophomore and Junior year.  I also volunteer in my community and was a coach for a youth Locomotive FC soccer team.  This is important because it demonstrates I can balance my academics and soccer.  I am now a senior in high school and was elected President of the National Honor Society.  I look forward to continuing my passion of playing soccer at the college level!
