I have faced no challenge on a soccer field greater than the personal challenge of losing my baby sister who was only 20 months old. Playing soccer has helped me to build my confidence, strengthen my mentality and learn how to stay focused and persistent. Instead of just playing for fun, I learned how to use soccer as my outlet when my youngest sister Celia, who had Trisomy 18, passed away. She helped me to stay motivated and focus on whatever was needed of me in a practice or game. This helped me to develop my strong mentality and dedication to not only my school work, but also this game I love.
