Karina Castillo '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Karina Castillo, I am a 2021 graduate, I have a 4.0 GPA and I am looking to play soccer at a school that can meet both my academic and athletic needs.  I attend Business Careers High school where I played for the Holmes 2019-2020 varsity soccer team. My club team is Alamo City 03G Gold, which competes in the US Club Champion’s league. Last summer I also competed in the inaugural season of the Alamo city women’s UPSL team. My hobbies outside of soccer include, reading, art and school organizations such as student council (president), Business Professionals of America, and NAWBO.

                 I take all AP/ Pre-AP classes and maintain high grades on them all. I attend a magnet school that focuses on business and where the rigor of the courses is much harder than a comprehensive high school. This year, I participated in an Onramps history class and received credit through the University of Texas Austin. I love challenging myself in the classroom and aspire to excel in everything I do. In the past summers I have been able to further immerse myself into my studies by attending the Intensive Law and Trial program hosted by Stanford University and George Mason University. I also was able to attend a week long course at St Mary’s University focused on entrepreneurship and innovation.

One thing that separates me from other athletes is my desire for improvement. Like many players, I work hard in practice and leave everything I have on the field. However, I also seek criticism from my coaches and other players that I feel can help me. I take constructive criticism very well and work hard to perfect mistakes I make. I would be an excellent prospect for any college soccer team, I am both athletically and academically successful and am constantly looking to better myself and prepare myself to play at the next level.
