Hi! My name is Shawna Morrow and I'm currently with the Solar West 04 FDL Remmel playing club as well as playing high school soccer through Stephenville High School!
Playing soccer in college has always been a dream/goal of mine. I plan to major in kinesiology, physical therapy specific, as well as minor in psychology. I've put in a countless number of hours into trainings, cardio, as well as weight lifting to further better myself as an athlete. I am always pushing to get better by not only focusing on cardio and training, but focusing on what I'm fueling my body with, as well as understanding what my body needs. Taking care of my body in order to get a peak performance is a key factor into being a good athlete. Although I can spend an impressive number of hours in trainings, what I believe makes a great athlete is their ability to learn and accept that they won't always succeed at first. Failure can be hard to accept, but it's what makes an athlete better. It becomes a drive factor to push and perform to the best of their ability. I think what differs me from other athletes would have to be my willingness to learn as well as taking criticism. Wether I'm in the classroom or on the field, I'm always pushing to learn in different ways as well as pushing to learn from others. What others know is one of the most helpful tools both in the classroom and on the field. You get a different perspective which I believe is a key into effective learning. As well learning, taking criticism is an important part of it. More than likely, the criticism you receive is meant to help you. Being able to take that criticism benefits you in ways you might not necessarily see but will stand out to others.
