My name is Devon Kollmyer. I am currently a Senior at Lynden High School and will graduate in the Spring of 2013. I have been playing soccer since I was three years old, and I am very committed. I play for TSS Academy U19 Elite in Richmond, BC. I decided to play for this team because they provide one of the highest quality environments for soccer in the area. The skill and dedication of the players are very high, and we play against many other high level teams including the Whitecaps and Highlanders.
I am a very good player technically and physically. I am very good at distributing the ball and I am a leader on the field. I always demand the best from my teammates and encourage them in a positive way.
I am also very committed to school. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.98 and I am very involved in my school. I am the vice president of National Honor Society and I have organized and lead numerous service projects including a fun run to raise money for students who cannot afford to pay for sports, and I have created a group that works with Spanish speaking children while their parents learn English. I also tutor fellow students after school and I am a mentor to a group of Freshmen at my school.
While juggling all of these tasks, I also take 4 AP classes and volunteer coach a girls U9 soccer team. I have been coaching the same group of girls for three years, and coached them for indoor and outdoor seasons as well as tournaments. I also referee soccer for youth, select and adult divisions in my community. I enjoy giving back to my community in any way possible, and I am glad that I have been rewarded with great opportunities to showcase these skills.
I hope to attend a university that has a good four year biology or chemistry program that I will be able to use to apply to medical school. I aspire to become a specialist and attend a reputable medical school after my first four years. With my dedication and commitment, I know that I will be a great asset to any soccer team and university.
