I come from small farming community that is not athletically gifted. Throughout my freshman and sophomore years of soccer my team only won 1 game. Our loosing record was embarrassing and made it hard to compete against the tough teams in out league. I believe coming from a loosing team made me a better athlete and teammate. I know now how important it is to always be there supporting your team even through the hardest games. Now, as a junior, my team has made it to districts. We are the third team from Quincy Lady Jacks soccer to make it to districts. This season I have learned to be a humble winner and play to the last whistle. I also learned how much I absolutely love this sport. I dislocated my knee-cap during our second game and was benched for over a month. Throughout my injury I was determined to not loose sight of the positive side, the season was not over, I could recover and my team still needed me (even if I was just the injured ballgirl.) I showed up to every practice, team dinner and game until I was cleared to play, even though it was torture.
Playing for 10+ years has made me a great teammate as well as a determined and skilled player. I believe that I would be a good addition to any team as I am just a small town girl that loves the game and wants to keep playing.
