I began playing soccer at the age of three, I have come really far from doing cartwheels and chasing butterflies on the field to where I am now. The biggest challenge in my soccer career was the choice to move away from my recreational team and all of the friends I made on it to play club soccer. the nearest club team was an hour away, but thankfully my parents supported me and my dream of playing competitive soccer. I was heartbroken to be placed on the "B" team during my first year but was determined to not give up. My hard work paid off, at the end of the season I had been moved up to the "A" team. I played at that club for 2 more years until I had hit another wall. I was no longer gaining the skills as I had in the beginning, this is when I knew I needed a bigger challenge. Once again, I had to say goodbye to my soccer family and move to another team, and, Once again, I was placed on the "B" team. This was harder for me the second time because I went from being a starter and MVP to not making the most competitive team for my age at the club. While I was upset, I knew I could move up if I could show improvement and dedication. While the first year I did not play a game for the "A" team, I was practicing every night with them and the next year earned my spot. I have stayed at this club because the ladies on my team and coach continue to push my limits and challenge me to be the best I can on and off the field. It is nostalgic to remember that 14 years ago when I first stepped onto a field, I had no idea I would love in love with the sport and meet so many friends, travel to new places for games, and grow to be the player I am today. This sport has not just taught me how to kick a ball, it has taught me to be a team-player, hardworking, and dedicated person in everything I do.
