Lucia Matenaer '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Lucia! I've been playing soccer since I was two years old, at the YMCA. I wasn't a fan of the game at first, but growing up in a huge soccer city with parents that played, I learned to love it. Pretty soon I was playing soccer for our local club. I learned pretty soon that my grade level wasn't challenging enough for me, so I played with the grade above until my late middle school years, when we were all combined for high school. I am fortunate enough to play with amazing people who are committed to great colleges for soccer. We have also been to state two years in a row. We won the first year, and lost the second in two rounds of penalty kicks. I am capable of playing with and against the best teams in the state.

Although I am a three sport athlete, soccer is my life. I love playing it, watching it, and talking about it. I think playing soccer in college would be a really fun opportunity, and I want to continue to play the sport I love for as long as possible.
