My name is McKenzie Fazio I am 16 years old and in my junior year in high school. I am a year round competitive swimmer for Chugiak Aquatics Club, with the addition of weight training 2-3 times a week. I’ve always looked at swimming as a way to express myself, when I get in the water I’m in my element and nothing else matters except for what is happening in that moment. I would love to attend a college or university that will not only challenge me academically but physically and mentally. Swimming is an important factor when it comes to which school to choose, but also if that school will support what I major in. I believe that I would be a good candidate for your team because I genuinely love my sport. If I have a goal, I am always willing to push myself to the max to achieve it, and that goes for both swimming and academics. I am a very motivational person when it comes to teammates, and I feed off of other people’s energy. If someone is down I always make sure to check on them to make sure their ok, sometimes we all forget that having bad races is going to happen. And there is nothing you can do about it but move on, get back in the water and work hard to achieve it. I believe that swimming is very challenging physically, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve began to realize that it is also very challenging mentally. A good or a bad mentality can completely change the way we look and feel towards many things especially swimming.
