One of the things I value most in life is structure. That is one of the main reasons I love swimming so much. With this sport, I have to be fully committed - no off days. It provides me with a schedule that keeps me focused and on track. Swimming has been a part of my life since I was very young, but I only started seriously competing when I was twelve. I know that I may be a late bloomer in terms of my times, but I am set on improving throughout my 11th grade year so I can go to a college that will provide me with the same structure that I value so much in my current schedule. In addition to swimming, I pride myself in having academic success. Education is extremely important to me because it adds another layer of motivation and order to my life. I am committed to keeping a balanced schedule that ensures time for school as well as time for sports. This makes for a pretty packed calendar, but I actually enjoy that more as it keeps me organized.
I have been giving myself more free time, though, because it does get a bit overwhelming to have so much going on. During this free time, I enjoy getting together with friends, listening to music, and watching movies with my mom. More often than not, though, my free time is spent with my teammates at swim and my classmates at school. Being a part of clubs like GSA, Global Outreach, and Model United Nations gives me a chance to socialize with people of all grades at my school as well as with teachers and advisors. With my swim team, we aim to be as supportive as possible in practice and at meets. Outside of the pool, we love to hang out as a big group. I genuinely see them as a family.
I am looking for a college that will give me the structure I so value in my day to day while also allowing me to cultivate close friendships with my peers. I believe that if I am in the right place I will be able to thrive as an athlete, a student, and an overall person.
