I started swim lessons at about three years old and joined a summer swim club at five. Swimming has always been a part of my life, and I will always remember the first time making State when I was eight and the happiness that came with it. Along with this, performing well at a young age allowed me to learn the importance of maintaining a humble attitude. This sport has taught me the benefits of hard work and dedication and how those things can ultimately lead to success.
One of my highest achievements in High School was during my sophomore year when I broke my school's 100FR record along with the 200 Medley Relay record. It was super exciting because I didn't think it was something I'd accomplish until much later. This then led to one of my future goals - breaking my school's 200FR record by my Senior year. With this success, I was fortunate enough to receive my school's Athlete of the Month in February two years in a row. This all came without strength and conditioning training, so I am excited to see what improvement can be gained with that.
I continue to work hard not only in sports but in the classroom as well. I have managed to maintain a GPA of 4.0 and above for my entire High School career. I take academics very seriously and have been a part of the National Honor Society for a year and a half. I'm very proud of these accomplishments because I am young for my grade.
I'm also involved in a variety of clubs, including our school's own IDEA club, which helps expose others to cultures they may not be familiar with. Along with this, I have participated in various community service activities such as serving food to people in need, packing boxes full of necessities for homeless people, elementary school activities in the area, and at a costume shop in my city. I also have a job that I love - coaching 8&Unders during the summer season and spring/fall clinics.
Moving forward in life, I am dead set on swimming in college, as I couldn't imagine my life without the sport. I want to continue to challenge myself in school while being able to do something I love. I look forward to continuing my involvement with the swim community.
