In preparation for an interview my father asked me to talk to him about what I am passionate about. And on the spot I tried to come up with a creative answer that wasn't swimming. Not being the fastest swimmer on my team or having all the cuts that I want planted the thought in my head that my passion for swimming was not good enough, like it was the wrong answer. But I love the sport. I have been swimming competitively for about 10 years and during that time I have learned the importance of self discipline, hard work, and a positive mindset. I can now confidently say that swimming is my passion.
In college I am looking to push myself to reach my full potential with a team that will continue to develop me into the best competitor I can be. My current club's philosophy is not to weight train, so that college coaches can develop us according to their own methods, allowing room for lots of growth on a college team.
As a student, I have always been in accelerated, highly rigorous coursework in my state's gifted program as well as my school's IB Certificate program. I have received distinguished honors every marking period since I began getting grades and my GPA is the highest possible I can get with the courses I am enrolled in. I want to be at a school and on a team where my strengths can deliver value, and where excellent coaching can help me craft myself into an important member of a greater whole. I want my teammates to be my friends, and my coaches to be my mentors in a place where I can add my own spirit to elevate the team's spirit and school's brand of excellence.
Thanks for having a look at me!
