Hello! My name is MaryGrace King and I'm a distance freestyle and IM-er from Lake Forest, Illinois. I've swum for my club team, the Lake Forest Swim Club for over half my life (9 years,) and am looking to swim in college to further my athletic career. Both years in high school I have swum for my high school swim team, the Lake Forest Scouts, and have been awarded MVP both years. On both my club and high school teams, I'm known as a leader and a friend to everyone who brings light and motivation to even the most difficult practices. Although, swimming isn't much of a social sport, especially while doing a set of 5 800s, so I know how to get down and work hard every day as well.
My hobbies outside of swimming are almost all connected to academics in some way, whether that be reading, writing, or studying history. I have a strong passion for the humanities and have already taken a handful of courses during my free time to get an idea of what studying in this field could possibly look like if I choose to continue it in the future. I'm looking for a school that can both make me feel important and at-home as well as providing me with an academic and athletic challenge to keep me productive and on my toes.
I believe that a reachable goal for me to work towards is making it into an Ivy League or Division I school, but I am flexible as long as I'm challenged and working my hardest. At the end of the day, I feel best when I'm pushing myself and seeing improvement in my sport and my character.
