Hello, my name is Julia Lesnicki. I swim for the club team of Hickory Willow Swim Association (HWSA) and I am 17 years old. I attend Lemont High School. I have been swimming on the same team for 13 years now. I think it would be amazing to swim in college. I would prefer to go D1 or D2 and with my hard working skills and mindset I believe I can get there. Also, I am a very outgoing and accepting person and I get along with everyone. Recently I have a goal to achieve the USA Futures 100 or 200 Backstroke cut to make it into the meet. As important as swimming is to me, so is school work. I am in a various amount of honors classes including, AP Language Arts, Honors Anatomy, and even Honors Physical Education. I strive to be the best student and athlete I can be. I swim butterfly, backstroke and free but not much breaststroke. I am currently working to improve breast stroke in order to succeed in my IM events. I have been swimming my whole life and don't know what I would do with myself if i didn't swim. I have my parents to thank for being so dedicated to the sport with me. They drove me to every meet I can attend so I can work on my goals. Swimming takes a lot of dedication and sometimes it gets hard to balance school, family life, and of course the training required but it was definitely worth it in the end. Swimming teaches you to balance your schedule greatly and that is something that I am so thankful for. Swimming has always been a huge part of my life even though sometimes it gets to the point were you think your done and don't want to swim anymore, i think back to all the effort i have put in over the years and all the good things that have come out of swimming such as the great friends, staying in shape, meeting my goals that i set for myself, and organization. I don't think I'm ever going to stop swimming even after i graduate college. Family and friends are a huge part of my life and I am so glad and lucky that I have family and friends that understand the difficultly of swimming and they support me through it all.
