Hi, my name is Hannah Blaksley and I’m a junior at Woodstock North High School. At the age of 8 I began swimming competitively with my local swim team. As a freshman and sophomore I chose to play volleyball, but missed the pool and joined the high school swim team this past fall. It felt great to be back in the water again and I quickly remembered how much I loved it. I was undefeated in conference for both the 50 and 100 free and was named all conference for both of those events. I placed 3rd at sectionals in the 50 free, 9th in the 100 free, and was voted MVP by my teammates. Due to COVID-19, Club teams are unable to practice so I am currently training on my own at a local YMCA.
When I’m not in the pool you can find me studying, strength training or water skiing competitively. I recently began working with a strength coach and I’ve noticed a huge difference in the pool. I swam my fastest times ever at my first meet of the season even after three years out of the pool. I also love seeing the weight on the bar go up and my overall strength improve. My love for the water started at a very young age. I grew up waterskiing and am part of a national championship water ski show team. I also compete at an individual level.
I look forward to my senior season and am working hard to achieve my goals. I am the happiest on or in water and I’m very determined to continue my swimming career at the collegiate level!
