Making it to state in four events as a freshman has been the highlight of my swimming career so far. However, I have grown as a student athlete the most once I started swimming with a team. My mom has coached me since I was seven and I have always swam by myself, racing only the clock. As soon as I hit freshman year and swam with a phenomenal group of high school girls, the swimming world changed for me. I started to realize that the times I got and what place I received wasn’t the only thing that mattered, it was the relationships I had built along the way. My freshman year of high school I learned what commitment, sacrifice, loyalty and friendship truly meant. I learned how to become a leader, and what it meant to be apart of a team. I not only strive to succeed in the pool, but also in the classroom. I aim to get good grades, and they are just as important to me as succeeding in the pool.
