Hi! My name is Gabby Rentosa, and I am a sophomore at John Bapst Memorial High School graduating in 2024. My first team is the Bangor Y Barracudas and I have been swimming with them since I was six years old. The best memories I have made are when our small town Bangor, Maine contingent represent our state in national-level meets. This is where I first learned the true meaning of team work. Swimming has always been something I've been passionate about. This sport has taught me the importance of hard work and the value of constantly trying to improve myself. Swimming has made me resilient in achieving my goals despite multiple failures and obstacles. This in turn has made me a better person in and out of the pool.
I am a strong freestyler, although I prefer sprint events I am always up for the challenge of swimming distance events. My stronger trait however is that I am a versatile swimmer which makes the IM event my second favorite. I am solid in butterfly and backstroke and this year I am confident that I can go further in the breaststroke.
I aspire to become a doctor one day. To get there from here will be a long and difficult process but I will definitely give it my best shot. Until then, I am looking forward to having the opportunity to swim in college and find my next swim family.
