To be honest, as a sophomore in high school thinking about college and what it brings, can be somewhat intimidating. At this point, I am not yet sure of where I would like to go and what path is best for me. However, what I do know is that I would like to continue swimming competitively. I have grown up swimming and I love it! I didn't really think about swimming on a team until I was nine years old, but ever since I was a baby I would be the first one in the water, and the last one out. Swimming has always allowed me to grow as a person while still maintaining focus on the things I value in life. I have always had a very close relationship with my coaches and teammates, allowing for a great atmosphere and support system while training. So, as I think about swimming in college one of my main focus areas is finding a team that has a strong and positive environment and good relationships between the coaches and swimmers.
I have always worked hard to be a supportive and helpful teammate, and friend. This is what has allowed me to create strong bonds with the people around me. While swimming and being there for my team, I have also managed to continue to be a high honor roll student throughout my career as a student. I have worked to maintain a healthy balance between school, sports and still having a social life when it fits. This past season was my first time swimming on a high school team. As a freshman I was able to qualify to represent my school along with eight other girls (out of 40+ girls), at the Maine State Class A Swimming and Diving Championships, where we won our first school state title in swimming. As this year continues I am eager to swim see what 2020 has in store.
