Personal Statement

I really don’t really remember a life without swimming.  I started as a five-year-old with my local neighborhood summer swim team, grew and developed through my training with Machine Aquatics Swim Club, and continue to compete today in high school for the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart.  This sport has become part of my identity, an important part of who I am. Some of my best childhood memories are from the pool deck— whether setting my first club record - a 40-year old 8 & under backstroke record-  or cheering on my high school teammates in a relay. I’ve even grown to enjoy waking up at 4:00 a.m. for morning practices.

The precise nature of the results in competition – and more notably, training – means that I can visibly see and feel progress as I improve, and can correlate the work I put in with the results I receive.  I feel the discipline I’ve learning in this sport has also contributed to my success in the classroom, where I have achieved honors and a 4.3 GPA through my first two years of school.

I am also an advocate for the sport.  I’ve been selected to as a summer intern to write for Swimming World Magazine the last two years and am active coaching with my neighborhood team year-round.

I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but have demonstrated the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.  As a three-sport athlete, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team!  I am also a competitive runner, having earned Maryland Private Schools All-State and Independent School League All-Conference cross country honors in 2017, 2018 & 2019.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
