Since I was a child, I have always been in the water. At first, my parents just wanted me to learn how to swim, but after I joined club swimming, the rest was history. Swimming is a huge part of my life, and I want to be able to continue my swimming career in college. I started to realize my passion for this sport in middle school when I began to focus on swimming and dedicate more time to it, and now I cannot imagine my life without it. Throughout middle school and high school, swimming has allowed me to develop new bonds with friends that I consider my second family. With swimming and the support of my team, I have come to better understand strengths and weaknesses, the value of dedication and perseverance, as well as the importance of failure as an opportunity to learn and improve. I believe that by continuing my swimming career in college, I can continue to grow and improve myself as a teammate and person in the college swimming environment as well as make new friends and family that will last a life time.
As a student athlete, I want to be swim at a college level as well as take rigorous classes in a challenging academic program. I was in the Humanities program in middle school, and I am now in the International Baccalaureate program at Richard Montgomery high school. I have taken numerous AP classes, and I have earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. In addition, I graduated Hope Chinese School in 2018, and I am taking clarinet lessons in my free time. Despite my course load and extracurricular activities, I have still been able to manage my time and do well in the pool. I am maintaining high grades while also swimming on my club and high school team, and I was able to swim finals at Sectionals and at the RMSC Holiday Invitational meets in 2018. With my current academic and athletic schedule, I believe I am prepared for the challenges of college swimming, and I am willing to dedicate my time and energy to work hard and do well in the pool and in school. I will make sure to support my fellow swimmers as a teammate and continue to perform well academically and athletically.
I am looking for a highly selective college that offers a great academic and swimming program. I would like to swim for a school with a strong and highly selective liberal arts program. I envision my college years to be full of growth, learning, and bonding with classmates and teammates in the classroom and in the pool. I look forward to communicating with coaches from schools that will be able to provide these academic and athletic opportunities.
