Hi my name is Valentina Smith. I swam competitively from the ages of 6-12 years old on the Revere Sand Shark swim club, twice competing in the AAU Junior Olympics. My parents are divorced, so when I moved to live with my dad I had to leave that swim club, but took tae kwon do, where I achieved my brown belt. I missed swimming, so I resumed competing in the pool my freshmen, sophomore and senior years of high school. Covid and on line learning, took away my junior year of competition. Ever since I can remember, when I first learned how to swim at the age of 2 years old I have always loved the water. I have always had a passion for swimming competitively, and the heart that I have to always push myself in and out of the water is like no other. My past teammates and coaches know that I have always performed to the best of my abilities. Over the years I have learned what it is to swim as a whole with my team, call those people my family, and always cheer on my teammates and support them in any way I could. I know that at any college I end up swimming at I will be an asset. I will show you how hard I will persevere when I put my mind and body to work in order to be the best swimmer, and teammate I can be. I am also half Colombian and fluent in Spanish. I look forward to the rigorous challenges a student athlete faces. Thank you for your consideration.
