Hello! My name is Rylie Steuer and I would like to take this opportunity to explain how The Four Pillars apply to my everyday life.
Scholarship - I am committed to living life to its fullest and making certain that everything I do is done with great effort and purpose. I am very dedicated to my studies and achieving my goals, but I am just as dedicated to supporting others. I live out this goal by voluntarily tutoring younger students both academically and athletically. In my lessons, I seek to build others' confidence and convey that great sportsmanship is not just about winning but working together as a team with a positive attitude.
Leadership - To me leadership is about creating an environment that encourages others to be the best that they can be. Every person has unique characteristics that need to be recognized and celebrated. I am a part of PALS (Peer Assistant Listeners), Varsity Swim, US Club Swim, NHS Executive Board, and Varsity Debate. On each of these teams, I am committed to stepping up and looked upon as a leader who always puts my best foot forward leading by example. I set high goals for myself by being in the top ten of my class and have achieved new school records with the swim team. I am extremely supportive of others and you will find me cheering on my peers and providing them with encouragement and support to achieve their goals.
Service - Giving back to others is a value that I hold near and dear to my heart. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has provided me with the opportunity to volunteer at multiple vaccination clinics within Allegan county. As a member of ECO club and Key club, I work with a team who creates positive change for the community. I feel that I am responsible for making a difference in this world and will continue to support change within the Wayland community.
Character - I believe that character is built over time and take great pride in knowing that I am an enthusiastic, positive person who can be trusted as a peer, student, athlete, and active member of my community. I always seek to do the right thing and take responsibility for my actions. One of my proudest moments in high school has been receiving the Rising Star Award. With this award I was recognized for my positive attitude and contributions as a dedicated leader both inside and outside of school. Overall, I am proud to say that I am a unique individual who lives life to the fullest and takes every opportunity to learn, grow and develop both myself and others. I am a confident leader and respected person who others look up to and know will make a positive difference.
