Hello my name is Zoey Herrera. I have been swimming competitively for 10 years. The majority of them being on Wild West Aquatics Club, under the coaching of Luke Egnaczak. During this time I have been able to focus on perfecting technique and enhancing performance to become a well rounded swimmer. My favorite events and where I feel I perform my best are the 200 and 100 breast stroke and 100 freestyle. I hope to continue with swimming in college. In addition to being a dedicated swimmer I am also very focused on my academics and hope to major in engineering during college. As a freshman I received both an academic and sports letter, earning a 4.068 gpa and am currently the district champion in the 100 breast stroke for 3 consecutive years (2021, 2022 and 2023).
I have recently started volunteering to assist with technique clinics to help younger swimmers master skills to become more efficient in their strokes as well as learn what to do and not to do during swim meets. This has helped me learn and strengthen my leadership skills and practice good communication with team mates, coaches and fellow athletes.
While I believe that I would be a positive addition to any swim program through my dedication, passion, work-ethic, and leadership skills. My goal for college is to study engineering, specifically mechanical. I love the idea of making a difference in the world, and engineering gives people the opportunity to solve problems and design things that matter and can make the world a better place. I want to bring my creativity to life through innovations and solutions that have a positive effect on communities around the world.
