I started swimming competitively in our local summer league when I was very young. I experienced some early success. In my first year of summer swim, I was seeded 36th and placed 1st in the 25 free. I swim with that same determination in every race. I realized I enjoyed the competition and team camaraderie. This experience led me to become interested in year-round competitive swimming. High school swimming and being a part of the conference championship team as a freshman solidified my love for swimming.
I bring this same level of determination and effort to my education studies as well. I was home-schooled 4th through 8th grade to try a different approach to my education. Then decided to enroll in the local high school when starting 9th grade. This shift from home-school to a more structured public school required a lot of adjustment. The transition went quite well and I realized that I am able adjust to significant changes and perform well. Beginning this year, I took another step in this transition by taking my first college course at GTCC. After achieving an A in my first class, I have demonstrated I have the ability to succeed in college and I am taking 2 additional college courses this semester. My goal is to enter college with at least 24 college credits, which would allow me to more easily manage the demands of being a college student-athlete. I am looking for a college that affords me the opportunity to achieve both my educational and athletic goals at the college level.
