Swimming is a very important part of my life. I joined my first swim team when I was 7 years old and have loved the sport ever since. My top events are the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 50 butterfly and 100 butterfly. I am the current Eastern Canadian, 15 and under Champion in the 50 free and 100 free, the 200 free silver medalist, and the 50 fly bronze medallist. In the 50 free and the 100 free, I am currently the eighth and ninth fastest 15-year-old in Canadian history. Despite my current success in the pool, I always seek to improve. I encourage myself to train hard daily and am open to my coach’s feedback.
I have competed for the Windsor Aquatic Club nationally and internationally and represented Team Ontario at the Quebec Cup and the Canada Games. For a swim club with over 50 years of history, I have broken numerous age group and open club records. I have won awards like "Best in Group," "Best in Age Group," and the "High Points" recognition trophy. This past fall, I was also awarded the Swim Ontario Dan Taylor Team Aquatics Supply/Arena Regional Student-Athlete Scholarship. This year, I participated in high school meets. In February, I competed at the OFSAA (The Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association) Championships, I broke the provincial 50-meter freestyle record that has been standing since 2016.
My academics are also important to me. I received the proficiency award granted to the graduating student with the highest academic average when I completed eighth grade. In my first year and a half of high school, I earned the religious studies and health and physical education awards and was on the Principal's Honour Roll (over 90% average). I have refined my time management skills and take my responsibilities as a student-athlete very seriously.
Swimming is my passion, and I want to compete at the highest level possible nationally and internationally. I have worked for years to get to where I am and have made many sacrifices. Finding a school that allows me to continue pursuing my academic and athletic goals while being a member of a cohesive team whose culture resonates with my values and goals is very important. I am excited to start the next chapter of my swimming and academic career.
