I have been involved in competitive swimming for about seven years with the Toronto Swim Club and RAMAC. I am very committed to the sport and because of my discipline have regularly improved over my career. When I think about the sport in my life, I would have to say it has become one of the most important parts of my day. I love swimming because when I am in the water it’s my happy place and, as a result, I always put in the effort at practice even if I am not having a great day. Challenging my friends and being able to finish a hard set is really satisfying. During the COVID 19 shutdowns, I realized just how important being in the pool is to my mental and physical health.
My best stroke is backstroke and I have recorded great times regionally in the 200 and 100 events. When I was in grade seven, I won gold in the 50 Back at the Toronto (Canada) elementary school championships. Even though I love back, I always try to improve in my other strokes and feel I have made a lot of progress in fixing my freestyle.
I recently switched to a smaller club (RAMAC) and really like the family feel. I look forward to seeing where my passion leads me as I work towards getting into a university program.
