My passion for swimming began at a very young age. My parents noticed, in my early years, that I loved being in the water, so they decided to register me with Windsor Essex Swim Team. I began swimming at the young age of 7 and competing at 9 years old, and have been ever since. I’ve always had a competitive spirit in me and once results started to show from competitions, my dedication and commitment to swimming began.
Along the years, I have been recognized by Windsor Essex Swim Team by receiving awards such as Most Competitive, Outstanding Performance and Most Dedicated. In the pool I try to be as positive as I can by encouraging my teammates and trying to be a role model and leader for the younger swimmers. I pay close attention to detail in my technique and try to improve myself in every way possible, with the help of my coaches. Throughout my swimming career so far, I have been attended Provincials 3 times and I have been part of relay teams that won the Provincial Champion title in 4x00 Medley Relay (winter) and 4x100 Free Relay (summer). Alongside this, I have always been participating at the annual Ontario Team Championships with my team, dedicating myself to collecting points for my team. I have also qualified for Canadian Eastern Championships twice for 50 backstroke.
Swimming has taught me valuable life skills such as time management, hard work and perseverance which have helped me very much as a Student-Athlete. I swim on average 8 times a week, morning and evening sessions, including dry land. Academically, I work hard to exceed my 85% average. Performing well at school continues to be a priority and I have been recognized yearly with Honour Roll. At school, I help to organize activities such as the Annual Blood Drive, Grade 9 Day and this year I am also part of Prom Committee. Another passion of mine is volunteering. I volunteer as much as I possibly can, whether it is timing at swim meets, helping out with fundraisers for charities, or volunteering weekly as a coach for the Special Olympics Swim Team in Windsor (2018/2019 and 2019/2020 seasons).
I love to swim, and hope to be given the opportunity to continue swimming in College or University as it has been a life-long aspiration of mine. I would love to be given the chance to reach my full potential as I know I can accomplish a lot if given the chance. Swimming and School will continue to be my main priorities moving on into the next chapter of my life and I am excited to see what my future holds.
