I started swimming a month or two before my fifth birthday. Twelve years later, I am still in love with the sport just as much as I was then, maybe even more. There is something about swimming that I can't imagine being without. It is something I will do for the rest of my life.
As a freshman at Hays High School, I set five individual school records and lettered as a varsity athlete. My team competed at regionals for the first time since becoming 6A, and four of us qualified for finals in the 400 freestyle relay. During that year, my school district built Johnson High School, and I was rezoned for my sophomore year. My twin sister and I became the captains of the JHS swim team and members of our school's very first regional team. After making finals in all my events, I qualified for the state championship in the 100 back where I placed 18th overall.
