I have been swimming since before I could walk. My parents had me in the water learning how to swim starting at nine months. At Christmas time halfway through my first-grade year, my family moved from Michigan to Texas. That move was the best thing to ever happen to me. It allowed me to find my passion for swimming.
At age six I joined the Belterra Marlins summer league team. I fell in love with the sport because of summer league; the exhilaration of winning and having fun with friends. Summer league gave me the opportunity to try new things such as doing flip turns, learning all the strokes, and being on relays. I have enjoyed many new friendships and a new sense of belonging to something bigger than myself. This positive feeling prompted me to junior coach the younger kids on the team, beginning in 2019.
In September of 2016, after I turned nine, I knew I had to join Austin Swim Club (ASC), my first ever and current swim club. I am and continue to be a STAGS, TAGS, and Sectionals finalist.
When I entered high school, I immediately joined the Dripping Springs High School swim team. I made my goal of varsity and began immersing myself in an experience of a lifetime. In my freshman year, I was a Districts, Regionals, and State finalist. I qualified for and placed in both Districts and Regionals for the 50 and 100 free. In State, I swam second position on my team’s 400 and 200 free relays, and we placed 3rd and 4th. The euphoria I got from those wins was indescribable. That moment will drive me for years to come.
I am a diligent worker with a lot of confidence and pride that constantly help me strive to be better than my best. Swimming has helped me learn the importance of hard work, grit, determination, perseverance, teamwork, and goal setting. A good team environment also helped me learn how to be more positive and outgoing. I have learned how to manage my time to become a scholar-athlete so that in college I will be able to pursue my interest in law. I enjoy many things that are attributed to law such as public speaking, student council, problem-solving, writing, and history. My current GPA is 4.0/4.0 scale. I am taking and will continue to take Honors and AP classes.
I am looking for a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically. As I have already mentioned I am a hard worker that never gives up and wants to be the best I can be. I will never back down or cower in fear of a challenge whether that be academic or athletic. I look forward to being part of a team where the members support each other in a great environment to develop everlasting friendships and prepare me for the future.
