Hi im Kiera Gutierrez from El Paso TX. I go to Coronado high school and will be graduating in the spring of 2023. I'm very passionate about swimming, and with all the ups and downs I've managed to come back stronger every time. I know I'm starting the NSCA process later than others, I did this to make sure I was committed and ready to pursue my goal of swimming in college. My peers and teachers have described me as a so-called "social butterfly' which means I love to talk and communicate with anyone around me. This is one of my favorite qualities about myself because it helps me put a smile on my teammates' faces and meet new people which can lead to new opportunities. My goal is to bring up others, this is so important in swimming because a big factor in competing is the mental aspect of it. Getting in a better mindset before your race and having faith in yourself can make a huge difference in how you perform. I do however know when it's time to be serious and focused. Those moments when it's just you, the water, and the clock. It also comes with academics. Academics are just as important to me as swimming, I prioritize both. I think that my positivity and commitment are great characteristics to have on a team.
