Briana Cardenas '22 Recruiting Profile

Hi my name is Briana Cardenas, and I am a swimmer out of Beaumont, Texas. I have been swimming since I was 7 years old and competitively since I was 9. Swimming is not a very big sport in the city that I come from, but I can say now that I am so grateful my parents decided to put me in this sport. Yes it has kept me active and in good shape, but it has also taught me so many valuable life lessons. 

I pride myself on being a determined, hard working person both in and out of the pool and for being very self disciplined. I have had many changes in coaches, teams, and pool locations over the past 6 years, and feel this shows that I am very adaptable to change. Swimming has also taught me time management skills and how to prioritize. I am currently ranked first in my class, and am currently at a 4.812 weighted GPA. I am interested in majoring in biomedical science and am planning on attending medical school to become a sports medicine surgeon. This shows how hard I work in school, and I am able to do this while training six days a week. It is not always easy but I know that in the future, all of my hard work will pay off. I have always been the type of person to strive to do the best I can in anything I participate in, no matter what the circumstances are. 

I would like an opportunity to swim for a program full of hardworking swimmers and a college with excellent academics. I would be a great asset to a college team due to my work ethic, commitment, discipline, and consistency. I feel that I have a lot of potential to become a better swimmer with the proper training. I would love to receive the opportunity to see just how far I can push myself as both an athlete and a student.
