Personal Statement

A major reason why I love the sport of swimming is the unique team atmosphere associated with it.  While many describe swimming as an "individual sport",  I could not disagree with them more.  I come to practice each day ready to race my teammates and push myself to become faster than I was the day before.  In the process, I am able to support and push my teammates to do the same.  Through the creation of this team atmosphere, I am able to keep coming back to practice, ready to work and get closer to my goals.

Another thing that sets me apart from many other swimmers is that I am willing, and able, to swim a variety of different strokes and distances.  Throughout my swimming career, my "best stroke" has changed quite a bit, however, I am constantly working to improve all four of my strokes.  This approach has helped me to excel in IM events where I have Futures cuts in both the 200 & 400.

Additionally, all of my coaches and teachers agree that I am a very dedicated student athlete. While I constantly push myself to become a better swimmer, I am also doing the same in the classroom.  I am committed to putting my best effort into my academics, just like I do with my swimming.  I have maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA (4.76 weighted as of 6/2020) throughout my academic career, while taking advanced classes.  As a part of my schools district's Health Science Specialty Center, I have taken it upon myself to enroll in classes that will set me up for success in college. It is my goal to pursue an education that will prepare me for an occupation in healthcare.

Lastly, I want to find a college team that feels the same way I do about the importance of the TEAM in swimming.  The most special part about swimming in college is the opportunity to be a part of a team and achieve goals as a team.  Being a part of a team focused on improving and  achieving success together has been a dream of mine since I started swimming year-round at age 7!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
