My first experience with the competitive swimming world was when I was about 10 years old. At that point in time, I was inspired by Missy Franklin and her amazing performance at the 2012 summer Olympics. After watching the Olympics, I decided that I wanted to give competitive swimming a try and I ended up absolutely loving the sport. I started on a novice team and ended up switching to a club team my freshman year of high school. Swimming has become a love of mine and it has helped me cope and fight through some stressful and hard times. What makes me a good candidate for a team is my ambition and dedication when I am passionate about something. I do not give up on a goal when I feel that it is something worth fighting and working for. I believe that this pure ambition is what sets me apart from other swimmers. I may not be the fastest swimmer, but I do and will continue to work as hard as I possibly can to drop time and progress as an athlete. This is shown in my academics and athletics through my grades and love for the sport. What also sets me apart is my positivity and leadership skills. At my high school, I am the 2019-2020 ASB Secretary; being in this position, I have had to learn how to manage stress, and lead others while remaining positive. All in all, my passion and dedication to competitive swimming has been a driving force in my life and I would love to have the opportunity to continue my career at the collegiate level.
