My name is Kida Ferrari and I'm a part of the Class of 2021. I have been working towards playing high level NCAA tennis for as long as I can remember…
I am very interested in finding a Team that I can add value to, while this same Family brings out the very best in me.
Throughout the hundreds of tournament matches that I’ve played in High School, with the USTA, at UTR's and with the ITF, I have learned a lot. One thing that I realized early on is that, while losing is definitely not fun, it is clearly where one can learn the most in order to become a more solid player. I believe this level of introspection is important, in tennis and in life.
My father played Lacrosse in College and what he instilled in me from Day 1 is the old Spartan Warrior axiom that says, “Come back with your shield, or on it.” I fight fiercely to remain in the main draw at every tournament, however, I take the back draw just as seriously. I have never withdrawn from a tournament, except for one time at a tournament in Mobile, AL. I was so sick during a match that I could not keep track of the score. I had never had problems keeping score before. I won the match and my dad felt my forehead - I was burning up. He withdrew me and we went right to the hospital where they did a swab and diagnosed me with the flu. Still, I finished the match and I won.
I also take sportsmanship very seriously. While I firmly believe in representing my Team boisterously as I have done while playing the #1 spot at Southern Cup, Team tennis, High School or Zonals; I also respect my fellow warriors on the tennis court – to the extent that they respect me – and I have only had a couple of bad experiences across these many many years. I am happy to say that I have ten sportsmanship awards from when they are given at various tournaments in the South.
I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you in the future...
Thank you.
