Hi! My name is Neha Sambangi and I will be in the graduating class of 2024 at Peninsula High School. I have been playing tennis since I was 11 years old and this sport has become an important and big part of my life. My love for this sport has grown so much from being just a little girl coming to private lessons once a week to a high school varsity and tournament-level player. At this point in my life, I am 100% sure, I would like to play college tennis at Division II and Divison III levels and become an asset to whatever college team I am destined to play on. I currently have a 4.57 UTR and I am looking to make a tremendous improvement to my rankings this summer by practicing for more hours and entering more and bigger tournaments. As a freshman, I played #1 singles on the JV tennis team at Peninsula High School and won MVP of the year. The following year as a sophomore, I am now currently a part of the Varsity tennis team and I played #3 singles and doubles. One thing that is special about me is I will do anything to be the best possible player I can be. I am a hard worker and like to spend as many hours possible on the court, taking my coach's critics and improving my game. I never give up and always work towards reaching my goals no matter what. I am a good listener and pick up new skills very fast. I am a team player and like to support others and make new friendships on the court. I would describe my game as aggressive and my best shot is my forehand. I know how to play the points well and move the ball around. I primarily play singles, but I am comfortable at the net and playing doubles.
I am looking to pursue Psychology or Communications Disorders in college, both of which are difficult majors to study, so I am looking for the college which best fits my academic and athletic needs. I have maintained a 3.8 unweighted GPA and 4.6 weighted GPA up till my sophomore year in high school. I actively participate and have some leadership roles in high school clubs. I have a very caring personality and I always look to help others. I am an active volunteer where I have planned and organized multiple donation drives to help unprivileged kids, people in shelters, animals, and patients in the hospital. Recently, I completed a successful campaign with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society where I raised $5,000 alone to help blood cancer patients who are financially unstable to get successful treatments. I also have a huge passion for dance and I have been learning a classical Indian dance style called Bharatanatyam for 10 years. In 2 years as a senior, I will be completing my Arangetram which is a solo dance debut performance where a dancer performs an entire concert by themselves at the end of their dance journey which requires a numerous amount of training and commitment. I hope this helps you learn about me more! I hope I can play for your team someday and I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Neha Sambangi
