Hello Coaches,
I hope that you and everyone are staying safe and in good health. My whole heart goes out to all of you, your families, and the community. A new college year is right around the corner, so I wanted to make sure I connect with you and hope we will have a chance to meet in the fall. I am eager to contribute to your team and support it in any way. I love playing tennis and staying active!
My name is Angie Fusto, and I am hoping for an opportunity to play tennis for you in some capacity, as I graduate on May 15, 2020, from Brandon Hall School in Atlanta, Georgia. Our season was cut short by COVID-19, and I miss playing tennis daily. I am 5'7 and 125 lbs. I started playing tennis in middle school, but my passion for the game began with competitive play in my sophomore year of high school. I had trained with coaches from MJCCA (Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta), UTA (Universal Tennis Academy) at Chastain and Dunwoody locations, and currently with a private coach, Robert Russell, from the Bahamas. I think the thing that sets me apart from many players is my desire to work on my game continually. I have great respect for my coaches and always try to learn from them.
One other important pattern that you will see from my playing is that I have demonstrated a consistent ability to get better. For example, I started out playing doubles line 1 for my high school team, and after my first year, I worked my way up into playing lines 1 and 2 singles. In the past three years, I have achieved various personal and team milestones:
2020 Award Winner - Georgia POSITIVE Athlete, North Atlanta Region
2020 Most Valuable Player Award, Best Serve, Team Captain, #1 Starter (three years), Varsity Girls Volleyball - Brandon Hall School
2020 Playing and donating in Coaches vs. Cancer events
2019 2nd Place All-State Team Award, Girls Tennis - GISA (Georgia Independent School Association)
2019 All-State Singles Award, Girls Tennis - GISA
2019 2nd Place Region 1AA Tennis Girls Singles Award - GISA
2019 Most Valuable Player Award, Varsity Girls Tennis - Brandon Hall
2019 Co-MVP Award, Varsity Girls Tennis - Brandon Hall
2019 Dynamic Duo of the Year Award, Varsity Girls Tennis - Brandon Hall
2018 Division Winner - T2Tennis
2018 Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year Award - Brandon Hall
The time and commitment to tennis is also something I give to my academics and community service work. I am currently maintaining all A grades in my five Advanced Placement courses (AP English Literature, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Government, and AP Computer Science) and took AP Physics last year. I currently have a 4.5 weighted GPA and will major in Astronomy and Biology, as I aspire to be the first woman astronaut on Mars. I am a supportive teammate and try to model strong character and integrity. I was recognized with these honors in my senior year:
2020 Winner - Atlanta Journal-Constitution Cup, one of the highest honors a senior can receive
2020 Semifinalist - National Honor Society Scholarship
2020 Winner, Biology, Regional STEAM Fair - GSEF (Georgia Science & Engineering Fair), advancing to State competition
2020 Second Place, Black History Month Essay - Brandon Hall School
2019 Chosen Student Leadership and Diversity Council - Brandon Hall School
You are welcome to connect with my school tennis and volleyball coach, AP Government and Economics teacher, and Upper School Head, Mrs. Melina Payne, at [email protected]. I am eager to contribute to your team and support it in any way. I love playing tennis and staying active!
Thank you for your time, coaches! I hope to hear your decision about me being a possible freshman recruit for fall 2020. Have a good day, and stay active and healthy during this challenging Coronavirus pandemic, -Angie Fusto
