Just a few months back, I was in Michigan for a tournament, and there was a long break between my matches, so I decided to go watch a meet between two well-renowned colleges. I fell in love with the atmosphere, the college team environment, the cheering, and everything in between immediately. I was determined that the electrifying team environment was where I wanted to be and a part of starting the Fall of 2021. I have played first singles on my high school varsity team since my freshman year and qualified for State every year I have played. Additionally, I’m the first tennis player to qualify for State every year in my high school’s history.
An important thing that has motivated me to want to play college tennis is my diet. Some may wonder what the connection is, as it’s not only a part of my identity but also one of the incentives that make me want to be part of a team. My choice of an extremely animal-friendly diet restricts me from consuming several foods and ingredients that people eat daily, and a lot of people have wondered where I’ve gotten my protein and other nutrients from that help me be the hard hitter I am and play tennis at a high level with strong physical and mental toughness. I would love to share my identity and story with my teammates and give them a whole other perspective.
My passion is to help and serve others and would like to take that into my academic life as I want to go into the medical field. That passion has also reflected on the tennis court during my high school season as I’ve learned how to handle different emotions and both ups and downs on and off the court.
Tennis is not merely a sport I know, it’s an opportunity that I’ve been lucky enough to be granted with, which I would like to take with me to college and further on in my life. Tennis has not only raised my self-confidence in many ways, but has also taught me a lot about myself, which I would have never learned if tennis wasn't introduced to me. From small things like being fully prepared for a match to disciplining myself to care about the matters that I am passionate about, this sport has taught me a lot. Tennis has been a positive life-changer for me.
With a consistently improving game, I am in search of a college that helps me excel not just academically, but also athletically and makes me love tennis even more!
