I have played tennis almost my whole life as a result of both of my parents being very good players. I used to live in Ireland when I was younger where I played tennis but it was not until I moved back to the US at age 7 that I began to really fall in love with the sport. Playing college tennis at the highest level possible for me has always been a strong goal that I have been working towards. What sets me apart from other recruits is my self-determination and drive. My parents never pushed me to be the player I am today because it was all me. Many of my coaches have always told me I am very coachable and are able to stay focused on a single task and get the most out of myself in each training session. I have an inner drive to compete and play my best. I began serious training at age 11 and started USTA tournaments at about age 12/ 13. Before this, I played on a league team for my club where I was able to cultivate a strong mindset for the game. I have won numerous tournaments throughout the years but for the second half of 2018 had to take a small break from competing to focus on schoolwork but during this time continued to train at a high intensity to keep my level up. As a result, my current ranking has dropped from a high of 51 in New England but I will be returning to USTA tournaments this February (2019) I train at two centers, the Winchester indoor Lawn tennis center, and the Mac tennis academy. I have been at Winchester since I was about 9 and started at the MAC in the summer of 2016. Before entering High school I had already experienced so much competition but being apart of the team was very special. As tennis is an individual sport, knowing my teammates were supporting me on the sidelines was a new experience. In high school my freshman year I played second singles and had a 17-5 record. In my sophomore year, I played first singles on my team and again had a 17-5 record again. Our team made the team tournament again this year and was able to make it to the quarterfinals. I am about to start my junior season in about a month and look to try to have a better record and go far in the individual tournament. Despite dedicating a lot of my time to tennis, my education has always been a top priority for me. I always try to take the highest level classes that are suitable to me and work my hardest. In college I am leaning towards studying the fitness/nutrition area but I am also interesting in biology. Being able to play college tennis is so important to me and I continue to train on and off the court to achieve this goal.
