I began playing tennis when I was about 10-11 years old. I played regularly every summer at a local tennis camp but did not begin competing until I was in high school. Since my charter STEM high school, Coral Academy of Science H.S., does not sponsor a women’s tennis team, I play for my district public school: Robert McQueen H.S. I was selected to be team captain this my senior year. I enjoy playing tennis, competing, and being a teammate. Thanks to the support of my coaches and teammates, my game has really improved over the years.
I hope to continue to learn more about the game of tennis and to improve my own game by competing on my college or university varsity or club team. Doing so will allow me to continue to benefit from competition, camaraderie, and regular exercise.
In addition to playing tennis, I enjoy playing the piano. I have participated in numerous recitals and competitions since the age of seven. I also enjoy knitting hats and scarves for my non-profit organization, Toques for Folks Inc. I donate the items I make to hospitals and homeless shelters in the area.
My ambition is to maintain the balance of academics, athletics, arts, and altruism I have in my life now.
