Hi! My name is Ava Choma and I am a tennis player from Welland,Ontario, Canada. I have been playing tennis since the age of 8 and quickly fell in love with the game. I enjoy playing the game because your success is determined by you and your drive. Tennis provides me motivation to improve everyday, work hard on and off the court, and to never give up.
Something that I think stands out about my game is my athletic ability. I’ve played soccer my entire life at a regional level and have accumulated many awards in this sport As well, I have played many different sports for my high school and this resulted in me being named Female Athlete of the Year 2022.
With respect to my High School tennis accomplishments, I won the regional tennis championships in both 2021 and 2022; the provicial championships in 2021 and silver in 2022 and the Ontario Championships in 2022. The High School Ontario Championships for this year are scheduled for June, 2023 and I have also qualfied for them.
I believe being a multi-sport athlete has helped my game in many ways. It has aided in my mental toughness, allowed me to become a team player so that we as a team all reach our goals. As well, it has provided me the opportunity to become a team leader and understand how to mold a group of individuals into a cohesive group.
I hope this brief synopsis was able to provide you with added information about myself and my goals to become a student-athlete at the collegiate level.
