Hello! My name is Shannon Stewart. I am a highly competitive person by nature, but like to have fun while competing. I started playing tennis when I was 10 years old. Since making my high school varsity tennis team as a freshman I set a goal to play first singles. I achieved my goal sophomore year and maintained my position as first singles in my junior year. In my most recent season my record was 16-1 with my only loss of the season being a close three set match. I made the First All Star Team for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
I am an all-court player with an aggressive and strategic playing style. During my matches I look to exploit my opponent’s weaknesses to gain the advantage. I have a strong forehand and backhand, as well as a wide shot selection. I adjust pace, spin type, and depth to switch up my game during match play and keep my opponent guessing. I have a strong first and second serve that varies between flat, topspin, slice, kick, and kick slice. I patiently wait for an opportunity to come forward and close a point at the net.
My competitive nature and strong work ethic carries over to the classroom. I work hard in my classes and connect with my teachers in order to maintain high grades with a 3.7 GPA. I seek challenges academically by taking honors and AP courses.
I want to attend a principled and challenging college both academically and athletically. I value friendship and relationships with my team on and off the court. I'm looking to join a competitive team built on comradeship and a strong desire to win.
