I understand the small percentage of women in professional tennis. I understand the percentage for a full tennis scholarship is also low, so my primary goal for college is to become an electrician. However, I enjoy tennis very much and would eventually like to be a tennis coach as an adult in the private sector while pursuing the electrical profession. I have always played sports since I was very young starting with soccer, softball and volleyball. I eventually played five seasons in field hockey collecting the Defensive Player of Year the year that our team went to the playoffs. That team that went to the playoffs was the only non-school team to make it into the playoffs and I am very proud of that. I changed sports in 2019 to tennis, I had never played before the 2019 season but I instantly made in to the #2 spot on the JV team. I have been told from coaches and others that I am a natural athlete. Before the midpoint of the 2019 season the coaches saw that I was a better player than the #1 player and the coaches had me challenge her for the #1 spot and I beat her and for the rest of the season I was #1 on the JV squad. At the end of the 2019 season the coach said that was his first winning season, and I would like to think I contributed to it with my 7-4 singles record. The 2020 season I played doubles on the Varsity squad as one of only two sophomores on the Varsity squad. As of the 2021 season I am #3 on the Varsity singles as a Junior. My very first game of the season was a brutal three hour match on a very hot humid day in which we went to two tie-breakers and I won them both 7-4. As of the time of this writing (9/28/21) my record is 5-4. I am a good team player and very serious and dedicated. I don't like drama and that's why I stopped playing field hockey. I have won the Empathy Award from my middle school and I think that shows in my actions in and out of tennis. I am a bit of home-body, I don't like to go out to parties so I think that makes me a "safe" candidate for a college.
