I am currently a sophomore at Virginia Wesleyan University, in Virginia Beach, VA, where I am majoring in Fine Arts and Education, in order to fulfill my dream of becoming an art teacher. I am a first generation college student, and have worked very hard to get where I am today. I enjoy reading, drawing, and swimming as a hobby, and studying German language in the classroom. Upon meeting me, you will find that I have a lot of character, and am not just your average dumb blonde.
I have been fortunate enough to earn a scholarship/stipend to study abroad at the Heidelberg University of Education, in Heidelberg, Germany. I will be studying there after VWU's fall tennis season/semester, and will be in Germany from April-July 2023. There, I will also be taking art and education classes. I am also planning on joining a club team to help improve my tennis playing ability and to stay in shape. After I return, I am hoping to transfer to a D2 school that offers an athletic scholarship and financial aid. Although I love playing for Virginia Wesleyan, I am not able to get a co-signer on my student loans, and my financial aid package leaves me in a position where I will have to transfer.
Although I am a Division 3 player, I have the drive and willpower to improve more and more everyday. When I first started playing for VWU the beginning of my freshman year, I went from dead last in the line up fall season, to #5 in the singles line up the spring season that same year. I have never had the opportunity to have a country club membership or have private lessons; I learned that the only way to improve was to take initiative. I have learned a lot about tennis by watching other players and taking advice from those who are better and wiser than me, as well as some solid YouTube videos, of course. I just need a second chance in order to continue playing the sport that I love, while being able to pay for school.
