It may seem like I am started this process earlier than others, but I learned from my older brother to not wait until the last minute. By starting just before his senior year he left himself with very little options but was lucky enough to find a school and team family. My goal is to start early, show coaches my passion and commitment, and update my videos as I develop into a college athlete.
Grades matter. I have been told that for a while but now I actually understand it. In the phrase “Student athlete” student comes first, and it is extremely important. I work hard at everything I do, including my grades, so when I play, the game is the only thing on my mind. My class load is including many medical classes and some are and will be dual enrolled. I know this might hurt my ability to hold a competitive GPA but I feel the more difficult classes will better prepare me for what college will be like.
Attitude is everything and I have been told many times that I am super positive on the court and the sidelines. My team is my family and we all support each other, during club season, beach season, and school season (in many different schools). They are year round friends. To continue to develop, I play year round in either indoor, beach, clinic, and privates. I have enjoyed growing in my ability to hit and how it is helping me attack from the back row.
It is my goal to play competitive college volleyball at a school that can also help me build my future career. While I don't know exactly which field I want, I do know that I would like a future in medicine. It is important to find a school that is a good fit so I can be happy off the court too. I am researching mid-large sized schools in areas that have a more urban feel or are closer to things to do off campus. Campus activities are also important and I want to be where the volleyball program is supported by the school and students.
I hope you can see a future for me in your program and choose to follow my progress.
