I have been running since the fifth-grade when my mom introduced it to me, but I have truly learned the most about the sport in just a few months at the beginning of sophomore year track. I suffered a hamstring injury in my sophomore soccer season that forced me to take about two months off of running. I slowly got back into running after that injury, but realized that I really do love this sport and want to be as committed to it as possible. This has changed my entire perspective of the sport and how I compete, which has made me a better athlete. Our cross country team has placed runner-up in the state of Arizona for division 3 twice and we are trying to win this year and I believe we can with a positive attitude and hard work. Although I do put a lot of my time into running, academics are still more important to me. I have been taking advanced classes since middle school because I love to challenge myself and have done well in them, getting mostly As. I have a passion for learning, especially about environmental sciences. I really wish to run in college because I want to continue to run since it makes me happy and running competitively helps me push myself beyond what I think are my limits. Also, people running in the college level usually do it because they love of the sport and have a lot of commitment, I would love to be surrounded by a team like this because it would make the sport even more enjoyable and also make me better.
