My friends and family consider me to be determined, a good leader, and ambitious. Some of those characteristics really began developing when I missed competing in state by fractions of a second my freshman year. I was extremely disappointed but never discouraged. It was through that experience that I decided that this sport is my love and that I will do whatever it takes to reach my goals. I started track at a young age in middle school and I liked it, but it wasn’t until high school that I developed a deep love for the sport. Throughout my high school career, I have done everything I could to reach my goals, including things like off season training, summer camps and mental training. I’ve been able to learn a lot about myself and my strengths and weaknesses through the ups and downs of this sport.
I have had lots of opportunities in my life to be a leader to others, both on my team, in school and through my church. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and my faith is the epitome of who I am. Because of this, I often have the opportunity to serve others. A recent example has been participating in helping with many eagle scout projects. In my school I am a part of a program called SALT (Student Athletic Leadership Team). I was invited to be in this program by my school’s athletic director. In this program, we meet to discuss ways that we can be a leader on our teams. We also participate in service projects around the community and school. I have been told by many that I am an extremely determined person. I don’t ever stop working for what I want no matter what obstacles I may face. I am always one to stand up for what is right and I am not afraid to voice what I see as right and wrong. I do my best to be joyful even when faced with situations that are anything but. I have an interest in music and I play both the violin and the piano. I love creating things of beauty through music. I also have an interest in politics and I always try to stay educated on current events. Another passion of mine is reading. I love that through books I can experience things I wouldn’t normally be exposed to.
Going to college will allow me to make a successful future for myself, hopefully going into a career in psychology. I would like to be able to use some of my strengths to help others in a more professional setting. In my future, I hope to have a family of my own. I want to become a mother and a wife and to have an impact on others. I am looking for a school with a program that will not only take me to new levels athletically but also academically and that will set a path for my future. As someone with big goals, commitment, and dedication I know that I have what it takes to be a great addition to your team.
