What I love about running is more than the sport itself. Being a part of a team and competing are the two things that I don’t wish to imagine my life without, much less miss this in my college experience.
I view each of my past and current teammates as a family member; a lot of them I would do anything for. Cross country and track have taught me to love others well, along with how to fight for what I want.
I’ve reached the point in life where fighting for what I want means more than it ever has or will. What I want is a college environment that will push me as hard as I am pushed by such a strenuous sport as running. I’ll admit there are times in school when I’ve attempted to coast by at a comfortable pace after signing up for classes that don’t make for a comfortable position to be in. Just as this complacency will destroy a runner, it will greatly hinder a student, and so I want an academic path that inspires a similar drive as the only way to achieve whatever it is I am after.
